HEUER AUTAVIA 7863C – DATO – Compressor Case – Lucky Number 8888 – MK1 – 1968
What are we looking at?
A beautiful and honest example of the Heuer Autavia 7863C “Dato” with compressor case—one of the most iconic references from Heuer’s golden chronograph era.
This is the sought-after two-register reverse panda dial, part of the first execution of the compressor-case Autavia. Introduced in 1968, this watch dates to that same year, confirmed by its early serial number.
Serials for the 7863C start at 138XXX, and this example carries the standout number 138888—a rare and fun detail that collectors will appreciate. (More on this via OnTheDash.)
The watch is in good overall condition, showing clear but honest signs of wear consistent with age. The case has developed attractive vintage patina and appears unpolished. The dial, however, is in great condition, with minimal aging and a warm vanilla-toned tachymeter hand that really brings it to life.
It retains its original crown and pushers, along with the correct small-teeth bezel and original ghosted bezel insert—details that matter.
Inside is the Valjoux 7732 movement, running well and offered with a 12-month warranty.
The watch is fitted with our handmade Desert Drift suede strap and paired with an original Heuer pin buckle.
A character-filled Autavia with real presence—honest, original, and exactly the kind of vintage HEUER that’s getting harder to find.
