HEUER AUTAVIA 7863C – DATO – Compressor Case – Lucky Number 8888 – MK1 – 1968

What are we looking at?
An exceptional example of the Heuer Autavia 7863C “Dato” with a compressor case—a rare and beautiful reference from the golden era of vintage chronographs.
This is the two-register reverse panda dial, a first execution of the compressor case model. First released in 1968, this particular watch dates back to that same year, confirmed by its early serial number.
Serial numbers for the 7863C begin at 138XXX, and this one carries the incredibly lucky and collectible number 138888—a fun and rare detail appreciated by true Heuer aficionados (myself included). Check with OnTheDash for details.
The watch is in excellent overall condition, showing only light signs of wear. The case has developed just the right amount of patina for that ideal vintage charm—and it appears unpolished, a true bonus for collectors.
The dial is beautifully preserved, with only minimal patina and features a vanilla-toned tachymeter hand that perfectly complements the overall aesthetic.
It retains its original crown and pushers, along with the original “ghost” faded bezel inlay and the correct small teeth bezel—all signs of authenticity and originality.
Powering the watch is the Valjoux 7732 movement, with 12 month warranty.
For the serious vintage chronograph collector, this is not one to miss—it’s a stunning, character-filled piece that embodies everything I love about classic HEUER.
Comes fitted with a custom handmade leather strap from Germany, paired with a brand new original Heuer pin buckle.
