What are we looking at?

A HEUER Carrera ref. 110.573B from approximately 1974, powered by the automatic Buren Calibre 12.

Originally, this model left the factory with a luminous metallic blue dial finished with Côtes de Genève. The classic 12-hour chronograph layout is pure Carrera: balanced, easy to read and just colourful enough thanks to the orange chronograph hands and orange-edged main hands.

At 39 mm without the crown, the barrel-shaped case has plenty of presence on the wrist. It is unmistakably a watch from the 1970s, but without feeling unnecessarily large.

What do we need to know?

The dial is the whole story here.

Over the years, the original blue surface has developed warm golden and brown tones, creating a proper tropical patina. The outer section is darker, becoming lighter toward the centre and changing noticeably depending on the light.

The original hands remain in place, with their luminous material aged to a warm creamy tone. Despite the strong patina, the white dial printing is still bright, sharp and clean. Nothing blurred, nothing weak—just an unusually attractive combination of ageing and contrast.

The stainless-steel case shows signs of polishing but still wears very well. The caseback sticker remains present, and the watch is accompanied by its original HEUER hang-tag. Small details, perhaps, but exactly the kind collectors tend to notice.

It comes on its full-length original HEUER steel bracelet with signed clasp. The bracelet is in very good condition, with almost no stretch, and fits wrists up to approximately 20 cm.

The Buren Calibre 12 has been checked and is working well. It is covered by our 12-month warranty.

This may have started life as a blue Carrera, but time clearly had other plans.

And in this case, that was probably for the best.
