What are we looking at?
A HEUER Carrera ref. 1153S (MK 3) with a silver sunburst dial, dark grey registers and a matching grey tachymeter scale. The orange central chronograph hand adds just enough colour to interrupt an otherwise rather restrained arrangement.
There are some lovely details here. The black inserts in the applied hour markers echo the dark hour and minute hands, while the date sits in a framed window at six. The silver surface catches the light beautifully, giving the dial a softer, warmer appearance depending on the angle.
The crown sits on the left, with the chronograph pushers on the right. Inside is the automatic Calibre 12, serviced on this example.
It comes fitted with our brown Ashwood strap with racing holes—a fitting choice for a Carrera.
What do we need to know?
The case remains sharp, with well-defined edges, visible brushing and only minor signs of wear. The broad upper surfaces and polished surround give it plenty of shape without taking attention away from the dial.
The dial and hands show minor signs of age. All luminous material is original and remains intact, with an attractive pale cream tone. Those small lume plots above the hour markers are particularly pleasing to see so well preserved.
The dark grey registers retain clear printing and visible concentric detailing. Together with the silver dial and orange chronograph hand, they make for a very appealing combination.
The Calibre 12 has been serviced, and the Ashwood strap completes the watch with a little warmth and a proper racing look.
No racing experience required. Which is probably just as well.
