Wakmann Reverse Panda Skin Diver Chronograph
I’m genuinely stunned by the overall aesthetic and proportions of this piece. The combination of the glossy black reverse panda dial (cream sub-dials), and exceptionally dark vanilla lume patina just works perfectly. The dial is signed “Ra SWISS MADE Ra” at the bottom, indicating the use of radium lume.
The full black rotating bezel is what really sets this watch apart for me. It adds a surprising amount of depth and class to the design while visually slimming the profile. Together with the glossy dial, it gives this vintage skin diver a look that is both rugged and refined.
One technical detail I particularly like is the clever movement retention and shock-absorption system: the movement is secured by two spring-supported pillars that press against the caseback when tightened, helping stabilize and protect the movement from impact.
The case has definitely seen some polishing over the years, but it remains sharp and clean overall. The black bezel shows some honest wear, but still has sharp teeth and crisp silver script that stand out beautifully against the all-black insert.
The watch comes fitted with a new original black TROPIC strap, which suits it perfectly.
A genuinely striking vintage chronograph with loads of character, offering far more presence than its price would suggest. These don’t come up for sale very often, especially with this combination of dial, bezel, and patina.
