OMEGA CK2374/6 JUMBO – Bumper Automatic – PAPERS – 1948
Ever wondered what the very first OMEGA automatic watch looked like?
Well, here it is.
The OMEGA CK2374/6 is an ultra-flat automatic wristwatch, sold in 1948. Considered to be the flattest automatic model ever produced in series during the 1940s.
Bonus: this CK2374/6 comes with the original certificate, issued Nov. 26th, 1948 – sold in Biel, Switzerland.
Movement: Caliber 30.10 RA (bumper automatic).
Steel case with a chased case back. The water resistance was ensured by a shellac gasket (Note: this gasket is still intact!).
The case back is held by a notched locking ring (a Favre-Perret patent).
Brushed protruding lyre-shaped lugs and brushed case middle, polished and beveled bezel, bulb crown.
This specimen is in absolutely excellent condition and… Believe it or not, at 75 years old, it is older than 96% of the world’s population today!
Most watches made in the late 30s and 40s have been sized below 33mm, that means, at 35mm this watch is a “jumbo” for its time.
The beautiful two-tone dial is in almost perfect condition, with just a very few small spots.
All edges of the case are super sharp! Loving the drilled lugs on a dress-watch…do you?
Take a closer look at these elegant shaped hands and distinguished colors…everything about this watch makes us very happy, and we are sure, it will make you, too!
