Zenith Super Sub Sea A3635 – 1972
Why buy a vintage watch?
One of the main reasons why we love vintage watches is the story behind these timepieces. Often, unfortunately, most of the stories remain hidden from us.
This ZENITH Super Sub Sea with Ref. A3635, however, was purchased in 1972 by its first and only owner in Germany. He used it for diving in his younger years, the watch was serviced at Zenith after a diving accident around 1982. The crown was damaged in this accident, which resulted in this incredibly beautiful patina many years later.
We received an original 1969 nautical chart from the owner to go with the watch. He has often been to the Azores for diving and snorkeling. He used the sea chart at that time to determine the depth of his diving areas.
The patina varies between brown and gray tones depending on the light, together with the aged tritium in the orange hands and the „ghost-bezel“ it creates an almost spectacular look.
The original Gay-Freres ladder steel bracelet has never been shortened and thus has its full length. The end links are original marked „ZH“. It still has the original diver extension!
The 40mm case has never been polished according to our information and the crystal is still the original plexiglass from the service in 1982.
The movement (cal. 2542pc) was overhauled by our watchmaker and runs perfectly.
This Super Sub Sea has become one of my favorite watches of the last few months and we are selling it with a tear in one eye and a smile in the other….to a new owner who has as much love in his heart for this watch as we have.
If you are looking for a vintage watch with an exciting history and perfect patina, congrats, you have found it here.
