AQUASTAR GENEVE MODEL / TYP 60 – SKIN DIVER – 1960s
THE HISTORY:
Aquastar, established in 1962 in Geneva, situated by the shores of Lake Leman, began its journey by crafting diverse collections of diving watches. Through active involvement in numerous diving expeditions, Aquastar swiftly gained recognition and respect as a prominent manufacturer of high-quality diving timepieces. Over time, Aquastar expanded its horizons and ventured into producing watches tailored for sailing and yacht races, leading to the remarkable introduction of the world’s first dedicated regatta watch.
THE WATCH:
The example on sale now is their model / type 60. A straight forward and timeless designed skin diver with super nice proportions (Aquastar did a similar looking, modern re-issue of the model 60 as well).
As in most cases (or all at the end), it’s the dial that holds the value of a watch.
You will get a stunning dark brown and even patina on all tritium parts. The hands and hour indices have aged in the same and very attractive way. Even the tritium lume dot on the bezel insert is all original and intact. Check the UV-light test picture, …great overall matching color!
The dial itself is satin glossy black and has developed an overall and even “stardust” patina. What a stunning combination!
