HEUER Carrera 12 – Ref. 2447N – MK2 – Valjoux 72 – ca. 1971

A vintage HEUER Carrera is the ultimate dream for any collector of classic timepieces.
For me, it’s one of those rare watches that reignites my passion for horology like few others can.
“The three-register 2447 Carrera was penned by Jack Heuer himself, which makes it an entirely different thing to anything TAG.” (www.hairspring.com)
This particular model captures everything I love about this world—the design, the history, and the mechanics all come together in a perfect harmony.
At its heart beats the legendary Valjoux 72 caliber—a movement worthy of admiration in any chronograph lucky enough to contain it.
Originally introduced in 1938, the Valjoux 72 has powered some of the most celebrated hand-wound chronographs in history, including the Rolex Daytona (and pre-Daytona), Universal Genève’s Compax (like the iconic “Nina Rindt”), Enicar’s Sherpa chronographs, and many others.
The Watch
The Carrera 2447N offered here appears to have an entirely unpolished case—sharp, well-defined edges with a subtle patina that adds to its vintage character.
The dial is exceptionally well-preserved, showing only minimal aging. The lume plots have aged to a rich, dark brown, beautifully matching the lume on the hands.
All text on the dial remains sharp and legible, with crisp white printing and a contrasting outer scale that enhances its timeless aesthetic.
To complete its vintage vibe, I’ve paired it with a dark sand suede leather strap, handcrafted in Germany. Its tone complements the aged tritium lume, and it’s finished with a brand-new original HEUER pin buckle.
