HEUER Carrera 12 – Ref. 2447N – Second Execution – Valjoux 72 – ca. 1970

A vintage HEUER Carrera is a dream come true for any vintage watch enthusiast. For me, it reignites my passion for watches like only a few others can.
This timepiece embodies everything I love about what I do.
The Carrera 2447N is powered by the legendary Valjoux 72 caliber—a movement that deserves a closer look in any watch fortunate enough to house it.
Introduced in 1938, the Valjoux 72 powers some of the most iconic and sought-after hand-wound chronographs ever made. These include the Rolex Daytona (and pre-Daytona models), Universal Genève’s Compax (such as the renowned “Nina Rindt”), Enicar Sherpa chronographs, and many more.
The Watch
The Carrera available for sale appears to have an completely unpolished case, featuring sharp edges with a light yet attractive patina. The dial is in great condition, displaying only minimal signs of aging. The lume dots have developed a rich, dark brown hue, perfectly matching the lume on the hands.
The script remains crisp and legible, with bright white text and an outer scale that provides strong contrast—enhancing the watch’s overall aesthetic.
To complement its vintage charm, I’ve paired the watch with a dark sand-colored suede leather strap, handcrafted in Germany. Its tone closely matches the aged tritium lume on the hands, and it’s finished with a brand-new original HEUER pin buckle.
