HEUER Ref. 404 “big eyes” chronograph – Valjoux 23 – polygon case back – 1959
Razor sharp case:
Rare untouched 1959 HEUER Ref. 404 “big eyes” chronograph – Valjoux 23 – polygon case back – one owner!
This stunning example marks an important point in HEUER’s history. It is the last 3-digit chronograph reference. The later Ref. 3641 used cal. Valjoux 92 and had a chrome plated case with steel case back.
Patina is king…look at the warmth of this lume! Beautiful dauphine hands and a “made in Switzerland” marked dial complete this stunning vintage collector’s piece.
What a value!
This particular example was sold to us by its first and only owner. He “signed” his watch by engraving his initials and the year he bought the watch (1959) into the case back.
The watch has never been polished or restored.
If you take a close look at the case back, you will notice that the original factory finish is still clearly visible. All edges are razor sharp!
The movement (Valjoux 23) was just serviced and works perfectly. Signed “Ed Heuer & Co SA”
34.5 mm in diameter w/o crown
41.5 mm lug to lug!
New hand made in Germany suede leather strap. Original HEUER pin-buckle (new)
